Just a little summary of the pool season as it draws to a finish, Willie McAuleys Div 1 Superleague team finished mid-table after a frustrating campaign, many of the squad not playing to their potential but Tony Finn had a superb season and will pick up Player of the Year in that team.
Kevin Byrnes Premier Superleague Team also finished mid-table in what is a very tough league with many Irish Internationals playing in that Division, David Joyce, Con Price and Kevin Connolly starring in that Division.
Derek Toners Northside League Team however had a super season fighting all the way to a play-off for the Premier Division narrowly missing out on the Title going down 5-3 to St Bricins (Holders for the last 2 Years, but success came in the form of winning the John Brady Cup for the first time in Parnells history, when they beat the New Division 1 Champions Ayrfield in a cracking match which saw Parnells go 3-0 and 4-1 down only to stage a terrific comeback and win the last four frames in a row to secure the clubs first ever John Brady Cup !! Kevin Connolly our former European Seniors Masters Champion, secured Player of the Year losing only twice in 19 games and has already bagged his spot in semi-finals of the Northside Singles which he will play on the Presentation night later this month. Dave Joyce and Con Price will compete in the Doubles in our club house Tues/Weds 25/26 May. A fabulous season for the Northside Team and the promise of better next season, Derek ,Kevin and Willie would like to thank all the lads for their efforts this season and special mention for Conor Kelly who was co-selector for Willies team and also Derek O Connor who assisted both the Northside and Superleague teams. Next up will be the Noel Holland Memorial Trophy which has been moved to September to coincide with the run in to the new season, all pool players will be invited to participate, footballers/hurlers will be most welcome to enter so watch the club notice board and website for further news!!!
