parnells 15
chiarans 1-08
On an overcast rainy Sunday morning in Clonshaugh these two local rivals met in an intense affair. Parnells were on top from the start with some slick football and some beautiful opening scores from the in form Stephen Duffy and the agless Ian Brady to put Parnells ahead, an astute substitution after 15 minutes saw Arron Hurley come into the game and stabilize the midfield and win alot of possesion to top off a great first half performance and give parnells a commanding halftime lead of 10 -3
Craobh Chiarans with some debonair footballers of their own started the second half well with 4 scores in the first ten minutes. In particular their number 14 David Keenan with a well taken goal to brought Chiarans within 3 ponits. Parnells showed great character to keep the lead with some more slick football and two very notable scores from Paraic O'Neil and John Dignam. Craobh hit hard and tried their upmost but could not break down a resiliant parnells defence with outstanding performances from David Fitzpatrick and Liam Browne. Parnells held out for a superb 4 point victory and look forward to a quarter final showdown with St Brigids.
