Seniors return to topflight

Published on: 11-Dec-2009

A strong first half display put Parnells on the road to promotion as they defeated St Maurs 1-13 to 0-7 in this AFL2 Top Four final at Innisfails on Wednesday night.
Darren Rooney was the most dominant midfielder on display and with the Parnells half-back on top of their game their forwards prospered to lead 0-7 to 0-1 at the interval.
Maurs battled gamely in the second half but in Niall Collins Parnells had a real match winner and he was rewarded for his toil with a goal in the final seconds of the game. Congratulations to all those concerned and the club looks forward to supporting our team in the top flight.
